Week 4
There were nine Midweek fixtures in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League for Week 4. With the recent rain and much cooler weather, the conditions for playing football had greatly improved. Of the nine games played, in seven games one team failed to score and of those seven, six were the home team.
AFC Uckfield Town V Newhaven (16th August)
Newhaven got back to winning ways with a resounding victory over home team AFC Uckfield Town. The scoring started in the first half when a corner taken by Lucas Franzen-Jones came to Connor Sidwell who found the far corner of the goal. The lead was doubled just before half time when a long shot by Marcin Ruda found the bottom corner of the goal. In added time, Lee Robinson slid past his marker and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. In the second half Marley Ambler finished off a good move to score and finally in added time Ryan Walton collected a through ball from Alfie Rogers to complete a 5-0 victory for Newhaven, the first of the season.

Alfold V Hassocks (16th August)
On a lovely evening, Hassocks travelled to play Alfold at the "Fold". Very early in the game after several close passes Leon Turner curled a shot into the goal from a tight angle to open the scoring. A little while later, a defensive incident which Liam Benson took advantage of to race clear and score which doubled the lead. After spending some time in the "sin bin", Mark Zydonik rejoined the game and scored the final goal in the last few minutes giving a 3-0 win to Hassocks.

Crawley Down Gatwick V Eastbourne Town (16th August)
The game between Crawley Down Gatwick and Eastbourne Town started at a crazy tempo with lots of corners and other chances to both teams. The visitors struck first with a goal from Jacob Minty in the first half. Soon after Eastbourne Town doubled the lead with a goal from Nathan Hover who slotted home a free kick. It was a disappointing night for the "Anvils" but Eastbourne Town were happy with the 2-0 victory.

Eastbourne Utd AFC V Lingfield (16th August)
Max Thompson gave the home side Eastbourne United AFC the lead in the first half in their game against Lingfield who levelled the score before the half time whistle. In the second half with all the pressure from the home side, Jack Samways doubled the lead and this was further increase very soon afterward by Aaron Hopkinson to give a 3-1 victory to Eastbourne United AFC.

Midhurst & Easebourne V Horsham YMCA (16th August)
Two teams currently in good form met at the "Rotherfield" where Midhurst and Easebourne were at home to Horsham YMCA. After a goalless good first half with chances to both teams, Joshua Neathey collected a pass from Daniel Evans and scored the only goal midway through the second half with a low shot across goal into the corner of the net to give Horsham YMCA a 1-0 win who have a really good feeling about the direction they are developing at the moment with a clean sheet and three more points

Peacehaven & Tels V Crowborough Athletic (16th August)
When good teams play each other, the first half is normally goalless and so it was when Peacehaven and Telscombe played at home to Crowborough Athletic but there were plenty of good chances and appeals. Midway into the second half, a corner taken by Cameron Wiltshire found substitute Harley Damario whose bullet header was smashed into the bottom corner of the goal. A few minutes later Callum Hart collected a pass from Callum Edwards and after a touch out of his feet drove the ball past the goalkeeper into the far corner of the goal. A minute later Callum Edwards collected a pass from Callum Hart to tap the ball into the goal from close range to give a 3-0 victory to Peacehaven and Telscombe who now sit top of the Premier Division.

Roffey V Broadbridge Heath (16th August)
Nothing is going the way of Roffey at the moment with no wins and no points but the performances are looking better and getting stronger. A strong Broadbridge Heath team went ahead in the first half when Charlie Weller collected a squared pass from Renato Carvahlo and a first time shot found the bottom corner of the goal. A quick break down the right wing and a cross to Ben Cooksley who struck the ball, first time, on the run into the bottom corner of the goal. The 3-0 victory was finished by Ben Cooksley with his second goal when he bullied a defender and placed the ball coolly across the goalkeeper into the goal.

Saltdean United V Bexhill United (16th August)
It was never going to be easy for Saltdean United as they looked to rebuild their team when they welcomed Bexhill United to "Hill Park". The only goal of the first half was scored for the "Pirates" by debutant Hayden Beaconsfield. In the second half it was all action for Bexhill United, Jack Shonk scored his first goal followed very quickly by Jack Jangford and then Jack Shonk scored his second. After a short spell of calm, Tom Vickers scored with an absolute pile driver and right on the final whistle Joe Summerbell scored to complete a 6-0 win for Bexhill United with a highly polished performance.

Steyning Town V Loxwood (16th August)
Home team Steyning Town managed to hold Loxwood to a goalless first half but it all went haywire in the second half. Soon after the restart a run down the left by Callum Dowdell with a cross to George Cousins who finished with quality. This was followed minutes later with a well worked goal from Samuel Fildes to double the lead. Devon Fender got in on the act of scoring minutes later with a super header but then it went from bad to worse for the home side when Ryan Timms was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle just before Callum Chalmers pulled a consolation goal back for the home side with a nice header but the 3-1 victory went to Loxwood.

Week 4
On the Saturday of Week 4 there is one game in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League and six FA Cup Preliminary Cup games, one on Friday and five on Saturday. .
Southall V Peacehaven & Tels (19th August)
On Friday, Peacehaven and Telscombe found it difficult to settle playing away to Isthmian South-Central team Southall as the score was goalless at halftime. Soon after the restart,the "Haven" took the lead when Michael Lloyd fired home from the edge of the box after the goalkeeper mis-kicked his clearance. After the goal Southall upped the tempo as they strived for the equaliser but it never came as Peacehaven and Telscombe won 1-0 and go on to play in the First Qualifying round of the FA Challenge Cup in September.
Title
Spelthorne Sports took the lead against home side Crawley Down Gatwick when Ellis Pringle scored in the first minute but the "Anviles" fought back and levelled the score with a goalby Harvey Enticnap. In the second half, Fraser Osukoga put the visitors back into the lead. Later in the second half Nick Sullivan brought the home side level only for Kelvin Karanga to immediately score and give a 3-2 victory to Spelthorne Sports.
